AC Cmpressor just fried
*this is not an Aprils fools joke*
About to pull into my driveway when I smelled smoke and then see smoke coming from the hood. I pull in and pop the hood. The AC compressor was smoking. the front was white from the burning. I just put this in recently and it was $300. Now I dont know if I can just remove the AC belt and compressor and drive the car with no problems or what. Is this drivable. Please get back to me soon. PS: to make problems worse the ABS light just came on. Thanks Caleb |

no need to remove the compressor, just the belt will do. The only thing on that belt is the A/C. The other belt handles steering and Alternator.
sorry about the problem. most frequent cause is not flushing the old "stuff" out. I think some combinations of old/new can lead to "black death" - or compressor seizure. |

with this belt off, will I still be able to use "vent" as well as heat/defrost. Just making sure so I dont screw anything else up.
Any ideas about the ABS light. Caleb |
