Ceramic or semi-metallic brake pads?
I'm going to replace my brake pads but don't know which ones to use. I've heard that the ceramic pads don't stop as well for the first few stops until they are warmed up. Is this true now or was that just when they started making ceramic pads? We have a steep driveway and I want to be able to stop when backing down it especially in the winter. I had some semi-metallic/kevlar pads on our Discovery and when the brakes were cold it was scary backing down the driveway. I swapped them out with regular semi-metallics.

Re: Ceramic or semi-metallic brake pads?
Hi,
I have the AXXIS pads and dimpled, slotted rotor kit from OT. The brakes stop great and look good. BUT, until they heat up they require more pedal effort than stock pads.

Re: Ceramic or semi-metallic brake pads?
ive tried semis, ceramic, and even kevalr... semis are noisy!! but i find work best since is what came from teh factory. kevlar is a very hard pad. found it ate and warped my rotors. stick with ceramic, but like processengr said, gotta heat em up....
