Duty solenoid "C" - p/n?

Hey guys,

Can someone please tell me the Duty Solenoid "C" oem part #? Or tell me the # of the part on the tranny figures in www.suabaruparts.com? I'd like to look into acquiring the solenoid for my vehicle. Here's the link to Subaruparts

http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...ear=1992&scn=1

Thanks.

The Subaru part number for the 92 transmission is 31942AA070. This is a common solenoid that Subaru used on the XT, Legacy, and Impreza so they are pretty easy to find. It is also referred to as the "transfer clutch solenoid."

It is part #9 under "Extension".

Thanks Dave for the info. Curious, can I exchange the same part from my '95 legacy to see if it'd work in my '92 SVX? I thought Endwrench said that they were different somehow. If they're the same then at least I can truly verify the problem before purchasing a new Solenoid C.

Thanks again.

Sorry, only the first generation Legacys (90-94) used the same solenoid. Your 95 would be different.

Hi Dave, thought I would add that the C solenoid unit for the Euro model is different, can't find the number now, but I think it was, 31952AA030. It is a different unit.

Harvey.

Pardon my ignorance here but why does the Euro model have a diff p/n? Do they have the same engine and drivetrain otherwise?

The European models had different transmissions. Harvey could explain better than I what the differences were.

Hi Ali, the models that were sold in the US and Canada, use the Transfer clutch AWD system. The models that were sold in other parts of the world used the VTD (Varied Torque Differential) AWD system.

This is the AWD system that Subaru is now using on some of the current models. It uses a compound planety gear set, to divide the torque 64% to the back wheels, 36% to the front.

If you are into Technical info, there is some Work Shop Manual scans of the set-up in my locker.

Harvey.

Before I order this, I just wanted to double check that this was the right number for a Solenoid C. Can someone confirm it. Thanks.

BTW There is 10% off at SubaruParts.com till 10-31-10 for online credit card orders over $50.
