OBDI Scan Tool, Select Monitor Connector MAYBE
I have purchased an OBDII ScanGauge2 for my Astro van. It works good. Has a nice MPG meter and other gauges available for display.
I have looking for something to use on my 1992 SVX but there isn't much of a market for this tool since the SVX is before OBDII. So I was asking around and got a response from the UltimateSubaruMessageBoard. The link is below. http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~v/b10scan/ Now this could be something of interest to few people here. Shows how to hook up to the select monitor connection using a lap top.

You need to read this thread:
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38685 and my website: http://www.alcyone.org.uk/ssm Works 100% on my OBD-I 94. Can't seem to get any sense from the ECU of my the 92 but it works with the TCU. Phil.

svx_commuter, Vikash indeed had a tool for interfacing with the first-gen Legacy. I still have a copy of it, as well as a laptop (which is currently dead, oh well) to run the DOS-based software on. But it's not very useful for the SVX.
Phil (b3lha) has been working on an SVX version of the tool, which appears to work right in Windows too. And considering Phil's talks to the TCU, cruise computer and climate control... yeah. Thanks for the link, but progress is already being made in this direction. |

I seem to remember that 93 and up was reprogrammed. Any progress on 92 svxii? Is it possible the legacy method would be more successful on the 92 usdm ecus?
-Patrick. Also - the legacy software works via parallel port - is there a way to get b3hla's software to accept inputs from that port - rather than serial?

You are right in saying that I haven't got it working on a 92 yet , but I don't think that any of the available softwares will work either since we are all using the same method of getting the data. Currently I only know of three softwares available. * Vikash's Legacy software could be modified to work with the SVX. It's a DOS program written in assembler. * My software currently only extracts data to a file, it's intended to help me investigate how the control units work rather than for datalogging. It's a Linux program written in C. * The best software is Kevin Frank's VWRX software. It has a nice Windows GUI and I've written a config file for it that will work with the SVX (you can get this from my website). I've asked Kevin if he'd be willing to give out the source code so we can customise it, but I haven't got a response yet.
