Need rotor advice quickly please.

Hello all. I'm in DESPIRATE need of new rotors and pads. I've been searching eBay and see that there are quite a few more sellers now. I'm seeing them as low as $139 + $44 shipping for just the F&R rotors, all the way up to $429 for F&R rotors/pads/SS lines. Is there a good source someone could recommend?

I do not want to spend a fortune on them as I'm going to be selling the car in the next month or so.

Thanks in advance.

If you're selling the car, no need for SS lines...

Do the pads need to be replaced? i would think they do... what i would do would just get the cheaper set of rotors, and get decent pads... Metal masters come to mind, as well as EBC Greenstuffs...
The better pads cheaper rotors will give you great stopping with a good "feel" to the brakes

Have you tried to see if your current rotors could be turned/machined? if so that would save you some money

Re: Re: Need rotor advice quickly please.

Yes, the Pads need replacing with the rotors. I'm looking into EBC's and a set of rotors from eBay. The "Brembo" rotors from iRotors in California look tempting, but they are about $100 more than some of the others. Also, I don't know if I want drilled and slotted or just slotted. Any advice there? Thanks.

slotted only is the best option for longevity.

I have irotors on the rear. I was not at all impressed with the quality. They were fast-turned only and you could see the machining marks. I would go with raceconcepts. I am still happy after 30k miles.

My personal thought would be to go with blanks in your situation...

I personally have only slotted, and for longevity i've heard its the best way to go. (other than blanks)

I'd go with the cheapest ebay "bradi"
or "brembo" because they're most likely the same exact rotor... and i'd then have them keep them solid, or slot them...

However, selling the car you might get a little "ricer appeal" by drilling them also.

However i myself have raceconcepts and like them... but they are not the same company now as they used to be.. and i haven't seen a new company run by Wood, the man you ran raceconcepts when we got the network discount

OK, I found some..

I just spoke with a company called Speedy Dynamics that will provide me zinc plated Front and Rear rotors in any configuration I want (Slotted, Drilled, or Drilled/Slotted) for $182.15 shipped. They will add the Axxis Metal Master pads for an additional $80 for the set with no additional shipping. I'm not sure if I want drilled or not...

My question is about the pads. Should I spend $27 more and get the EBC Green Stuff pads from Tire Rack ($97 for F/R pads and $10 shipping)? Are they any better than the Axxiss Metal Master pads? Thanks in advance.

just get the metal master.. they're quality pads and for that price, i'd say take them.. they actually probably stop the car faster than the EBCs, they just dust more, and sometimes make some noise... (i didn't have any problem with them)

Care to tell us where (phone # or website) so that those of us who are looking for brakes can check out the deal??

Thanks

The hot rotor deal

We really need some kind of index so people don't have to ask for a resource and then wait for a response. A preferred provider list of everything we need and the best values to keep our cars on the road at less cost. I answered this same question last week but we've got so much activity on this site that it can be difficult to find what your looking for. Example: I enquired earlier this year about brakes and got some excellent advice. The results of my research led me to the outfit that auctions the majority of Bradi's on e-bay. The best value for the money is to get your rotors from Rotors Direct in Long Beach, Ca. You can acquire blanks, slotted, drilled or any combination you want. These are Bradi rotors, a subsidiary of Brembo. I got a pair of front rotors slotted and drilled for $100 less than the the cost of OEM blanks. I got stock pads and they work great. Rotors Direct can be reached 562 218 3888. Ask for the manager, I think his name's Ron. Be sure and tell him you're from the SVX Network. Sorry to hear you're selling your SVX. The new owner should be v. pleased with it's brake performance.

I'll provide a matrix..

I produced a handwritten matrix that listed the seller, the "Buy it Now" price, Shipping, Phone number, Feedback, and whether the rotors were drilled, slotted, and Zinc plated. It was pretty helpful for me to figure out my best value at that point. I had a good feeling about the company I went with as they answered my call almost immediatly the first time, and called me back within an hour of a message I left for them. Once I get back to work on Monday I'll type it up.
