Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?
Thanks.
Today, I made camshaft gear wrench which SST number 499205900. Actually, I previously damaged the EX camshaft, so I bought an additional cylinder head for a spare engine. The cylinder head had been roughly disassembled and the anti-backlash spring had been released. I only used the EX camshaft, but I wanted to keep the IN camshaft in a usable condition as well. Normally before removing the camshaft, we need to fix the two gears with M6 bolts to keep the spring under tension. This structure is the same as that of the SVX's EG33 engine, and the same SST will be used to assemble it. This SST may be useful in the future. |

Yesterday, I installed my refinished wiper cowl panel. Today, I have rebuilt the steering pump and am installing it this afternoon. I have a few more odds and ends to tidy up in the dash wiring, and then will be ready for the dash to go back in.

In Subaru AWD, the front and rear wheel sizes and track widths are the same, so if the front and rear wheels are in a straight line, the toe is 0. I adjust the toe-in by about 3-5mm from there. This is enough if you are only adjusting the toe-in. If you removed the shock absorber, check the camber angle first. Camber affects the toe. Since the SVX does not allow adjustment of caster angle, adjust camber first, then toe. |

Yesterday: Rebuilt and reinstalled the power steering pump. I still don't like the noise from the pump area. I may rebuild a different core in the future. Installed the wiper cowl and wiper arms Lastly, I installed the instrument panel into the car. It is only sitting in place, but this represents a big step in the project.

BTW, I made an engine stand by welding. It looks sturdy enough. I'd like to paint it before it rusts, but it seems to have caught a cold, so I'll do that another day. |
