The Speed Sensor is the sensor on the Auto tranny on top of the front diff, the 5-speed probally doesn't have one, you need to remove the one from your auto tranny and insert it into your manual tranny (in the speedo cable hole) and then your speedo will work correctly.
I STILL haven't hooked up my reverse lights, so I'm no help there.

But you need the Speedo, the reverse lights aren't a neccessity.
One of the sensors should have ohm'd out, maybe try to ohm them again with it out of reverse
