What about paintless dent removal? Probably still over the top, but with the bottom side of the roof somewhat accesable it might be a posibility, and no one can ever sell those pesky deck lids, hoods can be swaped, ect. If you could do all the dissasembly/reasembly and get used glass from parts cars it just might work...
