But there was no '76 Legacy.
The Legacy, Impreza and SVX all showed up in Subaru's line-up within a couple years of eachother. The Legacy appeared for 1990, the SVX in 1992 and the Impreza in 1993. But it wasn't until the 1997 model year that all Subarus came with AWD standard.
So what you're looking for is a '90-'96 FWD Legacy or a '93-'96 FWD Impreza. Those are all the years that FWD models of those cars were produced, which is why I said
any FWD Legacy, Impreza or SVX tranny.
The SVX was only built with FWD in '94 and '95.
