Who knows as far as how long the 5 speed will last. As a note the only manual transmission that can handle more power than the SVX engine is the WRX STi. Also don't forget that the SVX is much heavier. That will stress the tranny more as well.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic. I would run good synthetic gear oil in the tranny and not beat on it too much. As I said before, quaife makes hardened gearsets for many of the subaru transmissions. You have the backbone, you would just need to rebuilt it with one of these gearsets.

As for the auto being weak.....yep. Weaker than the manual....I doubt it. Level 10 tranny, much stronger! Level 10 vs. Quaife doggear set.....who knows.

Personally I would not go with the doggear set. I think it would make the car miserable to drive. I would do this only if I were creating a strict race car. Quaife also makes syncros. They are, of course not as strong.
