A little something I came up with, I hope you enjoy
An American like you and I
You need not be born on the 4th of July
To be an American like you and I
You need not be black or white
All you need to know is wrong from right
You may be a soldier in times of war
You may be a clerk at a country store
We come from lands far and wide
To revel in our countries pride
We raise our children in our great lands
We work hard with our many hands
To produce our own prosperity
In our home of sweet Liberty
We raise our flag in great stride
We lower it to those that have died
To protect it from enemies that may try
Americans stand strong lest they cry
Help your neighbor when you must
For he is a friend you can come to trust
His misery he can cope
From a fellow with a little hope
We stand together united and free
In pursuit of happiness and liberty
You need not be born on the 4th of July
To be an American like you and I
