the retrofit to a newer 4eat or 5eat is going to be a wiring nightmare, but if you are up to the task, it is ideally the best trans for the car because they are equipped with Variable transfer drum?? VTD it acts similar to our clutch transfer but they will lean to a rear wheel bias as opposed to front and their action is mostly mechanical and not all laid on clutches like ours is. They tend to be heavy on the pocket too... Saw a couple 5eat's on ebay going for well over $1000
