The bar really keeps the front end level in tight corners and reduces the amount of 'dive' on the outside front wheel - which in turns the amount of unloading on the diagonally opposed rear wheel.

But you're forgetting that the body roll isn't always a bad thing but too tight of a suspension always is a bad thing. Must find the happy medium or you'll kill the car in the process!
