Oh I take your word for it, since you're looking at it, not me.
Just throwing out some ideas based on experience on the car.

Having said that I am inclined to believe anything involving worn rubber parts, such as bushings, on these cars. Both being older, and if it's like mine it has the "self venting valve cover gaskets". Where the oil is dispersed over all of the lower front suspension parts. Keeping them lubricated with a fresh coating of oil. But also breaking down all rubber parts...
