For those who like a more aggressive first gear.......

The TCU is programmed to shift rapidly up from first, because the large amounts of torque available are hard on driveline components, and to avoid wheelspin on gravel etc. Mostly to avoid damage, however.

If you want full revs launching, then select the 1 range, and floor the throttle. It will wind right up to the rev limiter, about 6750 on mine, at which point it will automatically shift up to 2 range itself to avoid over-revving damage. [Your selector lever will still be in 1 position though]

At which point also you will be fairly blasting for the horizon.

As long as your over-revving limiter switch continues to work, you will not blow up the engine. Would not be doing it every day though, but worth doing at least once just to experience that angry snarl from the engine.
