The design process to the first production cars would have taken approx. 30-48 months. I am not disagreeing with you I am just looking at the situation from another angle. I think that comparison to the Soarer is not that accurate because Toyota has many more times the resources ($) than Fuji/Subaru. The first Supras & Celicas looked like mini Japaese Mustangs and were not great sporty cars. The Datsun 2000 was not a great sprts car. Fuji's first attempt at a "sporty" car, The XT" was not a great car. For a company with very limited resources Fuji did a terrific jobwith the SVX. I just hope I can drive mine for another 10 years. Hopefully by then maybe there will be a replacement car for it.
