Yeah, I prefer to leave mine on winter setting all year.
I don't like the way the wiper blade is dragged over the lip of the screen in summer mode. I still have the original blades with the lifter bump, but even with this the rubber portion of the wiper strip gets dragged out of shape.
For this reason I usually leave it at winter setting.
You should also take note that wear in the linkage causes the range of travel to extend, and this exacerbates the banging off the vertical screen edge as the wiper mechanism gets older.
