I had a timing belt let go on my 89 Pulsar and things went everywhere... There was literally a dent in the valve cover from a piston punching a valve and sending it out of the head. Glad to know that if it lets go that nothing with smash together, just it will be hard to reset the timing. Im thinking its been done but not sure... can I take the timing covers off and visually inspect them? There is a large belt in the trunk that was there when I bought it... about an inch and a half wide... seems to me like a timing belt... So Im hoping that it was done already. It has a new tranny as well... replaced 4k miles before I bought it
Now Im getting a sqeaking from the rear so I suspect a wheel bearing is the culprit... I look forward to working on this car.. I enjoy working on them and so far working on this car hasnt been too difficult. I replaced the rear differential and driveshaft myself without a manual and YES I torqued EVERYTHING as specified.
