I would think that any amount of boring will decrease block integrity, however, if the 3.3 block is a derivative of the 2.2 block then we should be able to bore out to 3.75L (the equivalent of boring a 2.2 to a 2.5) and use the 2.5L pistons.
This has not yet been done (that I am aware of).
