Here are three performance all seaons tires I have liked:
Continental ContiExtremeContact
Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical
Bridgestone Turanza LS-V
The Bridgestones have Uni-T and are great in the rain. The Contis have been as good in the snow and seem a little sportier in the dry. The Dunlops are a nice tire as well, but got noisey when there started to wear down and they did not wear as well a the Contis (so far).
On a related note/rant...
Does anyones else hate the tirerack user reviews? Some people have meaningful reviews that they put some thought into. But they are the minority. Most people post something like this guy:
"Just purchased these tires in Durham,NC and ran into a big rain storm on the way home. The tire handle just great and Im sure will get better after I break them on a trip to the coast. They are like night and compared to the Bridgestones. They are very quiet tire."
Really? You mean to tell me that in the rain your new tires with full tread depth perform better than your old tires that were likely down to the wear bars (which is why they were replaced)? Duh.
