When does a survivor become a parts car

Honest and thoughtful opinions please

Looked at a 92 Claret this morning, owner has it for sale

He has been trying to sell for about two months now and has numerous offers to buy pieces of it. He has been reluctant to start breaking it up

Its third tranny is done, it has over 366,000 klm on it. He has owned it for over 10 years and has enjoyed it. He has spent plenty on new parts (new rad, new battery, claims a new rack, etc etc etc) all done at Mississauga Subaru, all original Subaru parts when possible at no small expense.

Interior is actually quite good, he claims everything works, battery was dead so I didn't get to test. It had been sitting since October.

Body is rough, plenty of rust in the usual places but no worse than several I've seen

He claims the engine runs great

Now the question

Do you part it out or restore it??

I will post the details in the cars for sale, with what pics I have
