Yes it can be done and you don't need anything special. Just need to remove the rear subframe from the FWD and swap in the rear subframe assembly from an AWD car and then I believe also swap the TCU as they are different for FWD and AWD.
There have been a few on this forum that have done the conversion and it seems very straight forward.
