Of course it is safe...as long as you're not driving in rain or snow or speeding around tight turns where you would need it. Putting it in FWD besides for limping with a spare tire saves you gas milage. I drove cross country with my SVX in FWD no problems at all. However I'm not sure how it affects tire wear. Which still shouldn't be an issue if you rotate them as scheduled, but if you switch back to AWD you don't want more than a few mm difference in front to rear tire wear. Someone posted the exact specs on another thread, but i forgot which one
