Maybe a manual would have helped sales, but your argument ignores the general sentiment towards Subaru in the early '90s.

Not only that, but the styling was unconventional. Some people love it - and those people are here today. Some people hated it and decided, without even driving one, that' those windows look like they'll get in the way.'
I don't think offering a manual transmission option would have saved the SVX.
