Re: fuel pump removel
Found this in a manual, though it doesn't really specifically say how to remove the cap over it:
-Unscrew the plastic retainer that holds the top on the tank in place
-Pull up on the lid and remove the hoses and connectors
-Remove the gold colored metal retaining clip
-Remove the fuel pump assembly
The pump is usually screwed or clipped to the assembly bracket, as well as to the fuel line and pickup strainer. Subaru has a special tool to remove the fuel pump cap, but it doesn't look all that special IMHO. Pic attached.
