Most good axle repair shops can also swap the ends assuming the shaft splines are the same. Failing that, it is possible to split and sleeve weld the two shafts together with proper jigging and temperature control. Downside there is that if the shaft ever goes bad, getting a rebuilt one would be somewhat more complex, as you can't use an off the shelf one.
