tire pressures, as mentioned, can aggravate the issue - also it could be they put in the wrong type of ATF , like the old Ford version, or the ATF+3/4 from Chrysler (these both tend to "grabbiness"). Make sure they use/used Dexron II (preferred) or III.

Finally, did you ever try the "officially" recommend test, drive in several tight figure 8s
