However, I like the idea of using the "manual" button on the shifter for this function. The convenient thing is that it's just 2 pins over, pin A6 with the brown and black wire. I'd like to just pull that pin and move it over to A4 but I can't get my freakin arms in there to do it. I've never pulled the dash apart on one of these before.

If you were to do this, you would no longer be able to pull the codes for transmission issues. It requires the manual button.

I think you could swap A4 for A6, and use your rocker switch for the manual mode button to avoid losing manual mode.
To be honest, I rarely take mine out of power mode now...
On the highway when I want it to lock up, I just put on the cruise control, it over rides power mode.
