World Cup Slogan

ugh...German.... the language is totally backwards from English (and French, and Spanish, and Italian, and....)

Take for example the World Cup official slogan "Die Welt zu Gast bei Freunden"

Translated litterally it means "The World to guest at friends" but it should actually be more like "Friends hosting the world" or maybe "The world is hosted by friends". Germans just aren't that good at peppy slogans.

A German brothel owner, however, has taken advantage of the fact that in German the word "Freund" has a double meaning: either a good friend or a lover/serious boyfriend. A serious girlfriend is a "Freundin". Adding an "en" to the end of the word makes it a plural.

So he's copyrighted his own verson: "Die Welt zu Gast bei Freundinnen" with the last word actually meaning "female lovers" (note it is plural and definitely indicating female!)

Guess I take back that stuff I said about Germans not being good at peppy slogans
