Well I'm glad you're both okay. Stuff flying off trucks is scary. The windshield on my wife's old Legacy was broken by a similar stray.
That piece of metal could have damaged all sorts of things. Axles, transmission mounts, suspension all come to mind. You're just going to have to have it looked at.
