While some of the old-style (phone transceiver-in-trunk) models could support that feature, the SVX factory radio does not have an input pin for this. [ADDED: Actually, it does!]

As Hocrest said, the connector in the trunk only has the (EDIT) four wires, and does not include any wires that run up to behind the factory radio.

This style of cell phone had an umbilical that connects the trunk transceiver with the handset. Subaru did not pre-install those, because different phones used different cables/connectors.

Many after-market head units today do include a "mute" input wire, but since everyone is using handheld cell phones these days you'd need a car kit or docking station for your phone that has a mute output.

EDIT ADDED: The power connector in the trunk might be a handy way to power a subwoofer. I haven't looked, but I'll bet it has fairly beefy wires for +12 and ground.
