The casting number is on each cylinder head. You need to get under the car to read them, but once there, they're pretty obvious. I can't speak to any other vehicles but the XT. Mine had the latest upgrade -- number inside box -- because the original owner had the original heads both crack. On the turbo, I would regard this as perhaps the most critical thing to look for, assuming the car is good overall.
