At any rate, I still fail to see how a vehicle with power brakes can fail to overcome the massive power of those Prius motors

Unless youre the unlucky bastard that:

A: Has his accelerator stuck wide open from the mat or by-wire system, and
B: Brakes also stop functioning somehow, in addition to the regen braking failure which is a separate system. Then...
C: Emergency brake fails also, not your day.... and then.....
D: Vehicle was not equipped with a traditional ignition switch, you can't even turn it off.....

All of these things happening at once is a one-in-a-trillion trillion trillion chance.... otherwise you just have to put some blame on the driver for being too weak-minded for not being able to deal with emergency situations. Blaming Toyota for everything is what America has seemingly come to lately..... lack of logic and personal responsibility.
