Alan Porsche did not use the same inertia system on the 8 cylinder engine as the SVX or the 6 cylinder Porsche, as you can only do this with groups of three cylinders. It has to work in with the inlet duration of 240*. 240X3 equals 720*
720/4 equals 180* and thats not enough inlet duration for an engine. The 8 cylinder used two different length inertia tracts, that it switches between. Not the pumping action of the SVX inertia system.
