Registered SVX Classic SVX

So for me the injection the SVX needs most is power. I would dread to think what figure the SVX would post in the 0-100-0 dash, which for me defines what all cars need, power with control. I'll bet most small turbodiesels these days would hammer it.
But, those small turbodiesels are probably 5-speeds and so is my SVX (along with many others), and I don't think they would get hammered. I think the performance of the SVXi lives up to the looks of the car. That is why so many of us have made the mods we have made. The typical NA SVXi can pull a quarter mile in 14.5-15.0 seconds, that translates into a power to weight ratio of about 15-16 lbs/wbhp (9.5 kg/kw) Don't know many 150 hp (advertised) turbodiesels that weigh in at 2100-2200 lbs (driveline loss). Braking, well, it's a heavy car, but the right pads, and fluid, and it stops pretty well.

Even on the street, nothing matches the feel of a responsive engine hooked directly to the wheels. The instant response to the touch of the foot, the little coughs during real engine braking. That's what make a real driving machine. I think the lack of a manual transmission spelled the doom of the SVX. Granted, driving in stop and go, bumper to bumper traffic is very unpleasant, but out on the nice unpopulated stretch of road with some good curves (or the track), the 5MT (or 6) SVXi is a joy.
