Agreed there may be lots of dishonourable exceptions in the London area. Don't forget, meet the wrong kind of Irishman, they can be "counter-shy" also. Perhaps as well, the Englishmen of my acquaintance would be drinking in the company of Irish drinkers, so it could prove to be a survival skill to buy your turn.
