If it is a L (FWD), sound comming from the rear, I will not worry too much about -- I might be wrong here. It might be the tires. I had god knows what tires on my car which were bald when i got mine. I replaced them to Pirelli P6000S. Not a single noise at all.
Just a thought. Do a carfax check -- although it might not tell much.
