The multuple beeps warn that although the keyless entry is on, the alarm isn't. Check your security switch in the dash. As for the 8 batteries and range, both are normal. You can replace the batteries with a single GP23A or GP27A, I don't remember exactly which one but it's the bigger of the two. Personally I wasn't satisfied with the factory alarm and replaced it entirely.
