Well, while I was in my high-po class at wyotech, I had some extra cash and a Camaro laying around, so I decided to make something out of it. With $1500 in pocket and a shop at my disposal, I got to work. A head/ cam job on a small block is something just about anybody with a wrench can do, so I'll just go to the parts list:
Stock LT1 short block/ 6 speed
Lloyd Elliot LE2 heads
Comp 280xfi cam (280/288 ad. duration, 230/236@.050, .576/.570 lift, 113lsa)
Manley 2.00/1.56 valves
Patriot Gold extreme valvesprings
Comp Pro-Mag 1.6 rockers
Comp Magnum Pushrods
E-bay long tube headers and 3" off road y-pipe (surprisingly high quality)
SLP Loudmouth 1 cat-back
SLP CAI
Tuning by PCMForless
Dyno'd at 373hp/365tq
In the future I'm planning to go to either a forged 355 or 383 setup with a smaller cam and a nice fat hair-dryer somewhere in the engine bay with a set of 4.10's. I never got a chance to run it at the track, but I think if I can get the launch down, a high 12 isn't unrealistic.
It could never replace a Subie for me, but there are few daily drivers that can even touch it
