"l33t" speak originated mainly from olden days AOL, where people who created "punters" and "scrollers" would think they had obtained some sort of bad-ass hacker status, but in reality were a bunch of obnoxious kids in chatrooms.

A real hacker would....

A) Never tell you he was into any sort of security hobby.
B) Never speak in anything but a standard language.
C) Never use AOL in the first place because it was obnoxious, and not supported on *NIX platforms.


So therefore, everytime I see some sp33k 1n l33t I just have to chuckle because they look so moronic instead of gaining respect they're losing any amount I could have had for them.
