I would just add the fuse... How could you go wrong protecting your system. In my opinion, I'm not an expert, any direct connection to a battery should always have a fuse. If you have a problem with it faulty equipment, get a new one... Like I said I'm not an expert nor close to any thing alike but I still have the since to protect my wiring with one... Just an opinion...
