I didn't wear safety glasses most of my life until I worked in a machine shop where they were required. Now I wear them when doing anything that could cause eye injury including working on a car and even using a weed eater. Only two eyes and loss of one is really bad considering depth perception. I like the little plastic safety glasses that wrap around and protect the side angles also. I go through quite a few of them as they scratch easily, but its well worth it.
