Having just taken my PS pump apart, I can't see why the PS pump would seize unless the bearing is really chewed up or something. Try taking the belt off and see if you can spin the PS pulley by hand. If your pump is dirty and leaking, it might be a good idea to go ahead and rebuild it. I just did it and it cost less than $30 in parts.
