I am not looking at the car right now, so I may be wrong...

Doesn't the alternator belt also run the p. steering?
If so, here it is: http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...ategory=094-A1

Looked it up for a 92, but it is the same belt. You might have a bad pump, but definitely change the belt first. At $13, you can't go wrong.
