Once you cross hands you are in a position where you can run out of extra lock. However you are in the best position to make a quick correction if you have gone too far. Have another look for this being applied.
It is a technique I have always used in setting a car with some rear end drift going into a corner. Under these circumstance extra lock will not be required, but opposite lock probably will, together with feathering the throttle, to retain a balance.
