Where I live, I see a lot more 911s on the road in the summer than SVXs. And, this winter, I'm really looking forward to taking my AWD SVX up the mountains skiing while the 911s are, well, parked. In my part of the country, if a sports car isn't AWD, it's parked for 6 months of the year.
The other reason I was drawn to the SVX rather than Porsche (or similar) was due to the rarity and uniqueness. I always tell my buddies with their Porsches, BMWs, Hummers, Mustangs or whatever that I could go out this afternoon, write a cheque and have a car exactely like theirs. They can't say the same about mine.
To each his/her own. I think we all get a dream about what car or kind of car we want to own and then run with it. The fun is not only in driving the cars but also in finding just the right one.
