I'm gonna be wrong on this for the first to do it, but I had an Uncle who drove a big Buick convertible (1959) that had an on-dash "electric eye" that auto-dimmed the lights. I remember him cussing it when driving down a lonely road and lights from a streetlamp or porch light would dim his high beams.
I had a 65 Buick Riveria that had an adjustable needle in the speedo - you set it at your cruising comfort level, and a buzzer would go off if your highway mph crept up to high - was cruise control available to any cars in those days (I don't remember any)?
