Sure it would do away with the brake band, that is ignored and not adjusted, even when it shows signs of slipping. Do you think this attitude would change, when the clutch needs adjusting and starts to slip. Or would the same lack of attention see it keep slipping till it is toasted like the brake band.

Sure the early models had trouble with the faking clutch facings. But how many do we hear of, that have the need of a band adjustment, but are just driven on, till it burns up, to destroy the box.

Then they condemn the auto transmission..

i dont really see the comparison here, with a hydralic clutch system(which any new generation transmission would come with) there is no adjustment needed of the master clyinder.
