Since they only go in one way with the hole in the backing plate, I am curious too see if I mabye I damaged it and if there is a way to check it. I am also curious if my awd works at all, as the other day I was in the middle of the twin cities in a heavy rain, and my front wheels broke loose, but I didnt feel my rear wheels actuate. There is no fuse in the service port for the awd, so the indicator light is not on. I work on my own vechicles, as I am resoring this svx to new condition, but this is my first subaru, much less my first import, so naturally I am a little intimidated. I have great access to parts, as I work for one of the largest aftermarket parts companies in the country, and I have a subaru dealer 5 miles from my house. I am having tires put on tomorrow by a shop in which the owner worked for subaru in the early 90s
so I am going to have him look at while his guys are working on the tires. Nonetheless, I am starving for knowledge on this car, so anything you can tell me would be awesome.

If there are any problems with it, the ABS indicator will show on the dash, and I can let you know how to get the code.

As for the AWD, On some transmissions, I have heard that it does take a split second for the AWD to kick in properly when taking off on slick surfaces. So it may be that your AWD is not working, or maybe it's just a little sluggish? If they get the car on a lift to change the tires, put it in drive and see what happens.
Anyone have anything else to add??
