Our cars aren't classics, yet. They are, however considered "special interest" due to their low production volumes. I'd think any state gov't would look only at the US production stats. I know that the anniversary editions of the Trans Am qualify for collector status, and they were made in larger quantities. IIRC there were 5,000 in '79, '84, '89, '94, and '99.
Maybe with accurate #'s from SOA we can get our cars qualified. I'm not saying that the #'s posted are inaccurate, just that we'd need a letter from SOA stating the facts.
Personally, I'm not interested in this, as I intend to drive mine daily, until I can't find parts anymore. For those of you that are, someone ought to contact SOA & get a statement of the low volume.
